Le Dépeupleur is Kasper T. Toeplitz and Zbigniew Karkowski. Karkowski studied music and composition with many different teachers and composers, most importantly Iannis Xenakis. Since 1994 he is based in Tokyo, where he collaborates closely with the noise- and experimental-scene and runs his label 'Sensorband'. He is not interested in traditional definition of music, in his eyes all theory and systems of music as a cultural concept have to be destroyed.
Kasper T. Toeplitz is an experimental bass-player. He is the founder of the electronic guitar-orchestra 'Sleaze Art' . Originally from Poland he is now living in Paris. In 1998 Toeplitz developed the piece 'Virus', for the IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique) together with Atau Tanaka (of Sensorband). He created 'Global String', an installation based on a bass-string of 15 m length that, via internet, enables people all over the world to generate sound together.
Le Dépeupleur is an extremely intense acoustic experience.
